Background: Distributed Learning (DL) is a model by which learning and teaching is distributed across a variety of delivery formats and mediums – print, digital (online), and traditional delivery methods, allowing students and their teachers to be separated by time and/or location. DL connects students with teachers across the province, providing choice, flexibility and authentic learning experiences. It offers the potential of exploring different relationships and building highly personalized and individualized learning opportunities for student success. Alberta’s Distributed Learning Strategy, led by Alberta Education, highlights a collaborative effort throughout the education sector to create a beneficial environment where school authorities work together for the benefit of Alberta students. This provincial Forum provides the opportunity to:
Part A (online, in your own time): Online conversations are launched October 20! Participate in creative online explorations and conversations about teaching and learning practice, resource development, governance and leadership, and technology. Your contributions now will set the stage for the November 4 event. Go to http://www.arpdc.ab.ca/dlforum to participate. Part B – November 4: Alberta's ECS-12 Distributed Learning Forum is a full-day province-wide event. Space at each satellite location is limited to an initial three representatives of each school jurisdiction within that region; others may leave their names on a waiting list, in case space opens up closer to the event.
