Location: J.R. Robson School –Room 113 5102 – 46 Street Vermilion Alberta
Who should attend: FSL Teachers – Grades 4-9
About the workshop: Now that most teachers have had some time to peruse the 2004 FSL POS and the 2006 PA (Program Articulation) documents, let’s continue to use these documents to ‘fine tune’ our ‘Planning for the Purpose of Assessing’ skills. In this session teachers will:
1) Further their understanding of *‘Functions of Language’* for the pragmatic purpose of creating authentic performance tasks and to see their connection to the Common European Framework of Reference
2) Practice assessing ‘good’ and ‘bad’ tasks using criteria from the AAC (Alberta Assessment Consortium) FSL teachers will walk away with ‘ready-made’ tasks and the necessary knowledge and skills to continue to create authentic tasks that will not only engage students but also allow teachers to hit the target of the program’s ‘Overarching goal’.
What to bring: FSL POS and PA (Program Articulation) documents (High School teachers to bring the 7-9 PA)
