About the workshop:

This workshop will provide teachers with a deeper understanding of what the changes to calendar look like in a K-1classroom and why “sorting and subitizing” are key essentials for developing number sense at this level. Teachers will examine the curricular changes and how best to apply these changes to developing number in their classrooms. Teachers will be provided with a copy of “Little Kids – Powerful Problem Solvers” (Andrews & Trafton, 2002) as part of the book study for the three sessions. 

 

This will be part one of a three part series examining number in Kindergarten.

 

About the Presenter(s):

Sylvia Malo is a full time Math Coordinator/Consultant for Learning Network. Sylvia has also been involved in conducting in-services at her district level and at Math Summer Institutes in Edmonton.
