About the Workshop:
Curriculum overview (what has changed) with regards to Space and Shape for Grades 4-6– how do we reinforce conceptualization of these concepts using manipulatives and the Smart Board? Focus on patterns, communication, problem-solving, personal strategies and mental math. Come prepared to discuss, share and collaborate with your colleagues.
About the Presenter(s):
Robert Tymofichuk taught in a K-9 school in St. Paul for 14 years - mainly science, math, and information processing. He was the network administrator in that school as well. For the past 3 years he has been half time at the St. Paul Alternate Education Centre, a virtual school, serving approximately 500 students. He also is a half time "Division Trainer" for St. Paul Education - essentially helping staff and students with software. He serves as a Video Conferencing Coordinator for St. Paul Education. He is also a lead teacher for the "Video Conferencing Regional Leads Network" (VCRLN), one of 24 teachers across the province that were selected to deliver in-services promoting video conferencing technologies.
Sylvia Malo is a full time Math Coordinator/Consultant for Learning Network. Sylvia has also been involved in conducting in-services at her district level and at Math Summer Institutes in Edmonton.
