COME JOIN THE “WISDOM OF THE GROUP”

QUESTION:  During your first year of implementing the New Alberta Social Studies program, wouldn’t it be great to share the heavy planning load and be supported by the collective wisdom and efforts of a network of likeminded colleagues?

ANSWER:  HELP YOURSELF, HELP OTHERS – JOIN THE COHORT!  A cohort is a group whose members fulfill their common needs and goals through collaboration and shared effort.  This cohort will meet at four regularly spaced intervals spanning the 2008-09 school year.  Over the course of the year the major elements of the new curriculum will be explored under the facilitation of curricular experts.  Teaching strategies and resources will be developed and shared amongst the cohort members.

Cohort  Schedule:  Day 4 (April 7, 2009)

a)   Topics will be determined by the cohort at the first cohort meeting on September 30.
