Sherryl Sewepagaham
Sherryl Sewepagaham is Cree-Dene from the Little Red River Cree Nation in northern Alberta, Canada. She is a singer, hand drummer, music therapist in-training, music teacher, and composer.

Join music therapist and elementary music educator, Sherryl Sewepagaham in an interactive and participatory workshop that focuses on First Nations songs and traditional teachings through movement, songs, and games. Sherryl has used the hand drum in her work with students and now uses the drum in her music therapy work with children with special needs and hospital patients. Sherryl is from the Little Red River Cree Nation in northern Alberta.
The morning will focus on learning drum, rattle, and stick songs in the oral tradition-style suitable for the classroom. Some traditional-based games will also be incorporated into the workshop. All hand drums and instruments will be provided.
The afternoon will focus on Sherryl’s resources created and co-created for the National Arts Centre’s Music Alive Program (MAP). Songs, movements, and lessons will be shared from the resources:
