Kate Cooper
Kate has been a member of Dr. Alex Lawson's team of mathematics educators and researchers at Lakehead University since 2013. Kate currently teaches some of the math curriculum and instruction courses within the Bachelor of Education program at Lakehead University's Orillia campus. She has also been involved in the development and delivery of an online Primary/Junior Math Additional Qualification course for in-service teachers. Kate has worked closely with Dr. Lawson on a number of projects, from conducting research in primary mathematics classrooms to delivering professional development sessions for educators across Ontario. She has also created and organized various materials to support Dr. Lawson's written publications or conference presentations. Kate's main research interests within the area of mathematics instruction include early algebra instruction, the development of primary students' multiplicative reasoning, and instructional practices that promote effective mathematical discourse.
